Our voice is a respected no-partisan contribution to public policy and land use discussions. We regularly submit comments during policy and planning reviews with The Environmental Registry of Ontario, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, The Ontario Government and the Mayor and Council of Uxbridge among others.
The Oak Ridges Moraine Act and “Envision Durham” have been a focus in recent years as has been proposed changes to the Greenbelt, to Conservation Authorities Act, and before that it was The Ontario Government Bill 66. We were active in educating our members and making submissions on the Ontario Government’s Bill 23 and Bill 39 and removal of protections for lands in the Duffins Rouge Agricultural Preserve. Local issues in Uxbridge have been a focus as well – anything which has implications for our vision. This includes lands protected for agriculture, natural heritage and conservation, trails which connect communities to conservation lands, and the flip side of these issues, smart use of land for compact development rather than sprawl.
